I do not think that Obama needs to be like Bush and fire a subordinate and be done. In a oriental culture, a person like Salazar would have resigned voluntarily. But unfortunately, seeing that Americans thinks on a individualistic level and not as a nation, it would look even stupider for Obama to fire Salazar.

There are agencies such as the MMS which have set rules to operate under. If those folks have failed to operate under those rules then that is where the problem lies. We know that agencies like the FDA (the drug side at least) have been very successful. That is where we need to take the cue from and revamp these regulatory agencies. It makes no sense to fire one person and replace that person with someone from the opposing camp.

After all. when I voted for Obama, I did so thinking I was voting for a President to get things done and not voting for a coach or a referee.

We have demonstrated our guts to go after a poor, helpless immigrant. Now let us demonstrate that and go after the powerful interests such as oil lobby. Demanding anything short of that is not worthwhile.

We did not fire Transportation Secretary because of safety lapses of Toyota. Did we? why don't we follow the same approach here?

Let us engage in some discussions here.
