Radio Ecoshock has a new one hour special on the Gulf gusher...

It features interviews with: Richard Heinberg (of Post Carbon Institute), Anita Burke (former Shell International VP), Dr. Riki Ott (Valdez oil spill expert, reporting from New Orleans), and Antonia Juhasz, oil researcher for Global Currents.

Plus a new song written about the spill by Dana Pearson "Corporate Catastrophe".

Please pass on word about this program through your web sites, blogs, Facebook and Twitter. It looks at the big picture, not given by most mainstream media, from experts long active in the field, and well published at the Oil Drum. It also includes the Peak Oil perspective, as motivation for such risky deep water drilling.

If our educators have stooped this low and could not address such a simple situation, then how can we expect them to handle the complex issues of education?

I watched a clip of this incident on a Bay area local news station last night. students were being interviewed. Could not believe the low intellectual level of these high school students. I bet some of these students (from both camps) would not know where Iceland is on the map or would even be aware that European flights were suspended due. And these are students who live in the technology and information rich Silicon valley!!!!

AOL News (May 6) -- Students take note: Wearing the Stars and Stripes on Cinco de Mayo could get you kicked out of school for the day.

At least that's what happened Wednesday to five sophomore boys at Live Oak High School in Santa Clara, Calif. School administrators deemed their conspicuous American flag apparel "incendiary" and likely to provoke fights on a day when many other students were permitted to don the red, white and green designs of the Mexican flag in celebration of that country's heritage.
