Not leaving for Asheville until next weekend. Can't come soon enough! My second full week vacation in almost 8 years ... I'm getting too old for this shit.

How 'bout this market? My bet is the crash was pure manipulation. A couple of hedge fund managers got together and said "ok guys lots of fear out there when I give the high sign we attack I'll go after P&G sell it and short it to nail the Dow, Joe you go after the futures, Pete you buy dollars and treasuries and sell the crap out of the Euro. We hit it all at the same moment and it will trigger all the program trades and all the equity stops will hit the market at the same time. Then when we get close to 1k down in the Dow we close and reverse... BAM!!! We make a billion each in a1/2 hour. We know how to hide our trades the SEC will be dumbfounded".

It happened again with AAPL on Friday. At one point during the day AAPL showed a low of $.01. Someone on the TSCM site flagged it....however, its now showing a low of $225.21 for the day. They better figured what the problem was and fast.

I was leaning the wrong way this week and lost a ton of money.

Gates: Military spending should be subjected to harsher scrutiny

By Roxana Tiron - 05/08/10 02:45 PM ET

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is warning Congress and the Pentagon brass that military spending must receive harsh scrutiny in the face of the nation’s tough economic times and large deficit.

Gates on Saturday said that it is “highly unlikely” the defense budget will grow in the coming years and challenged lawmakers to stop funding programs that the Pentagon does not want, such as more Boeing C-17 cargo airplanes and the General Electric-Rolls Royce secondary engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

FL-Gov: M-D Poll--McCollum Vulnerable in Primary and General

An interesting poll out this week from Mason-Dixon confirms other recent data on a simple point: GOP Attorney General Bill McCollum has the governorship of Florida far from sewn up. The poll shows that Democrat Alex Sink has more than halved McCollum's lead in just two months. In March, it was a seemingly solid fifteen-point edge for the Republican. Today, it stands at just six points, with McCollum at 40% and Sink at 34%. McCollum also puts together a pretty meek performance for a frontrunner in the GOP primary. Newcomer Rick Scott draws 24% of the vote in a prospective primary, with McCollum at just 38%.
