One of the downsides to the modern media climate is that almost anyone who was ever prominent who says anything, no matter how stupid/outrageous/dishonest/libelous/etc., will be faithfully quoted in the mainstream media just because they said something. Frequently they will then be invited on cable talk shows to repeat more stupid/outrageous/dishonest/libelous/etc. things to entertain that particular fragment audience.

The editorial judgment concerning what are relevant, intelligent quotes went out the door when Twitter and Facebook came along. Today it's just about blabbing out anything and trying to be the loudest blabber in the news cycle.

Really pathetic. But tremendously profitable for those with the stomach and greed to stoop to that level and thrive.

I turn off the news most days by noon. I'd rather spend my time with decent dramas or the nonfiction channels on cable than listen to the spin and drivel over and over.

Palin is like Siberia. Everyone knows where it is and discuss what it is like. But no one wants to go there.

<<<she is making large sums of money because others are unwilling or unable to ignore her.>>>

She is making large sums of money because she is a leading candidate of the Republican party for president. She is the de facto titular head of the Republican party. She is the incumbent Republican VP nominee.

How can you ignore her?
