Ted, cops stop Latinos and African-Americans all the time here in southern California. For minor reasons (e.g. dirt on the registration sticker). And Los Angeles is supposedly a "sanctuary city." And ask them for their birth cert. and when they don't provide it, take them to Immigration?

The rapidly growing consensus is that her campaign is tanking, and new numbers out today from SurveyUSA bolster the argument. The pollster has Whitman up by just two points over state insurance commissioner Steve Poizner (39-37). It was not all that long ago that Whitman had a 3-to-1 lead over Poizner. For what it is worth, Jerry Brown leads the Democratic primary in the poll with nearly two-thirds of the vote.
