Yep, here in the US it is much easier and faster to drive
anywhere within 400-500 miles radius. Personally, I don't fly
if I can avoid it, and certainly don't fly within that range.

Note that as S. gets closer to the fan, the planes will get
older and airline checkups will suck more. So, air travel
will become more dangerous. Accidents are still rare, but
they are always fatal. This happened in Russia, as Aeroflot
flew 15-20 year old airplanes. The frequency of crashes after
SHTF increased drastically due to old planes and inadequate
checkups. Not that this info is news to anybody. Here in
the US I see a lot of potholes on the roads, something that
was not present 10 years ago. Also a sign.
