The final step before outright fascism or communism is a kleptocracy. An Enron et al type of thing. Crony capitalists are as much to blame as anyone. Leaders are supposed to set an example. John Maynard Keynes saved the capitalists from themselves. Lets be honest. There had been a period of obscene crony capitalism before JMK came on the scene. He was the last hope before the communists took over. National health has nothing to do with it. Most civilized counties can afford to run a National Health system, and it is a normal expectation by nearly all citizens. Which also leaves me wondering what the Conservatives can do with the blame game. Probably very little indeed. So what if you put millions more out of work in the name of efficiency? They still need to eat and prisons cost money as does a police state. Judges are not cheap, nor is the legal process of putting people on trial. It's going to be real interesting to see if there will be any "savings" by applying cuts to services.
