Cameron's Tories have the most seats, though not a majority. The electoral arithmetic meant that a Conservative/Liberal coalition was the only realistic arrangement. Cameron showed sufficient flexibility to persuade the Liberals to throw in with him.
(FWIW, I'm in favor of the arrangement.)

And no, they are formally agreeing to maintain the coalition for the lifetime of the parliament.

Interesting times for UK politics.
One might even detect a modicum of principle in both parties, which is refreshing. :-)
