JK,
My only point about the "deep discounters" is that it appears that you are saving a ton of money but you have no way of knowing that. If you and I both place an order at the same time for 1000 shares of stock x which has a bid and askk of 8 x 8 1/4 and I get it for 8 1/8 and you pay 8 3/16, you have paid $62.50 more for the stock and your apparent savings is actually a cost. Customers don't see that. Does Datek cross check every trade made with every exchange to see if the customer got the best possible price at the time of the trade, and if not, call trading and tell them to change the trade? By all means, if you are happy with Datek, you should stay with them. I think the increase in theur business and the other "deep discounters" is because of the "apparent" savings that is visible to customers. JMO whicj I know most of you are not interested in.
