It's an open secret around here that the 5K bpd is a joke.

We are keeping our fingers crossed that the spill can be contained very soon. If it isn't, the economies of all Gulf coast states are threatened. Global implications are not out of the question.

This is as big if not bigger a disaster as Katrina except that the effects will be felt more slowly.

There are companies that will take inordinate risks, like BP, and others, like incredibly well-managed Exxon, that won't. It learned from Exxon Valdez; it was very safety conscious even before EV.

Bad stuff. Very bad.
