Disasters on this scale are often responsible for the radical transformation of a civilization

If we work it right, this might get through an energy bill. this might get more people driving less and working towards green.

sometimes people have to be smacked up the side of the head.

sad to say, a lot of people all a'dither over the spill drive just the same amt of miles per day, run their a/c just the same amt and wouldn't turn out the lights to save their lives.

we'll see.

it's not about the Gulf. come on. America does not in general care about the Gulf of Mexico. it's not the lovely scenic Alaska.

on occasion a fool who is an addict needs to be taken by the throat and shown the consequences of their actions. It's not about stopping off-shore drilling. it's about changing our daily lives, it's about high-speed electric rail, it's about solar, it's about wind (even if it messes up a Kennedy's view).

otherwise the upset over the oil is pointless and empty.
