Politics is complicated. But the best way to gauge whether an administration is good or bad is look who they appoint.

Take Chu for instance for energy. No one better. Bush had a dentist in there. It takes a while to manuever.

E.g. Obama might have used Stiglitz, but Summers helped Obama out in his campaign early on and Obama had to give him a big economcs job; and Summers hates Stiglitz---so.

So Obama was sort of stuck. And then it is dangerous to use loose cannons like Stiglitz, Shiller and Krugman. Keeping out of trouble is very hard in politica and one has to do a lot of compromising.

I used ot play in the legislative poker game. I once had the nuts in a no limit game against a big named legislator and he did not know I had the nuts. Omaha can be complicated.

I chose not to break him-lol.
