Derek, thanks for the warning. When one don't have enough of it, one wish for it. My new wish is S1K dream machine: (OK, I'll make it $1295) 1. pentium-200/MMX (I'm not CPU power greedy) 2. 128K ram ( the programmers are really taking advantage of the low memory price, better prepare). 3. 9.9G HDD ( 1/2 for Window and others stuff/features that MSFT is going to integrate into the OS DUE TO CUSTOMER DEMAND. ) 4. 56Kmodem. (It's already here) 5. 16x cd-rom (enough for me). 6. DVD drive / Jazz drive(or equivalence). 7. 17" monitor (19" preferred). Am I expecting too much? Also, I want it this Xmas. One thing I don't understand, the CPU is only one component in the PC, why all of a sudden, in the last 3-4 months, PC prices dropped so dramatically. Was it because everyone has improved the 'manufacture efficiency' and at the same time passed it along to the customers? Maybe it's that SEA thingy again, with the lower cost from those guys, the PC can really be cheap now. So devaluation is a good thing. One can buy more for less. Why stock market don't like it? We always like to buy low and sell high. Maybe it is just supply/demand. So, the lack of demand is forcing the price lower. (ie: demand for high-price machine). Maybe it is the competitions. Maybe the world economy is going to crash/stagnant. Maybe we found out that life goes on w/wo fancy machines. Since nobody can keep up with it (more, more, more), they just have enough it. Maybe the words are spreading around that the world is actually better without all those powerful machine. (No, I don't want to live in stoneage) Damed, these things are so complicated and intervined, forget it, I can't explain it.
