I am not arguing that the Fed should be tight during a period like this.

But there is a big difference between low rates and zero rates.

Even Greenspan never dropped the funds rate below 1%.

Zero rates could perhaps have been briefly justified when global financial markets threatened to implode.

But after a 70% jump in stock prices?

No way Jose!
