Clearly there have been abuses of union power (the Teamsters under Jimmy Hoffa and some public unions today), but unions have played a positive role in our society on balance by putting some limits on the increasingly unequal distribution of income. It is no accident that the generation long decline in union power coincides with a huge widening of income disparities in the United States.

These disparities have reached very dangerous levels IMHO, and the continuation of this trend could lead to political turmoil and violence on a scale not witnessed since the civil war.

Good comments Steve...

Any sound economy needs a balance between production and demand. We can produce all we want, but if our own people aren't paid sufficiently to purchase those products, then obviously the capitalist "pendulum" has

We are country of people, endowed by our creator with unalienable rights. It was not established for corporations, unions, NGOs, churches, or charities.

Those who think that we should subjugate our rights and economic prosperity to blind adherence to flawed economic models (as I believe that all economic models are flawed to some extent) is lunacy.
