I'll take union work over non-union ANYDAY.

Of course you would, until the union ran the company into the ground and then most likely you would whine, just as you are doing now.

Alternatively you would piss and moan for higher taxes for states to build roads, or for consumers to pay through the nose more and more for houses until prices crashed an you would be out of a job, whining yet again, just as you are whining now.

My father used to own a drywall business that was a half union shop, half non-union. He couldn't get certain contracts if he didn't have union status.

But what he constantly complained about was that the performance of his union workers was often not up to par with the job quality of his non-union shop. Furthermore, he couldn't have "multi-taskers".. You either were a drywall hanger, or a taper, whereas his non-union folks were both.

Then there were the "payoffs" that were demanded by the union bosses...

He just couldn't make any money on the union jobs.

It was such a pain in the @ss that he sold his business and went back to going solo.

And now we're facing illegal aliens doing shoddy work and putting even non-union contractors out of business (or forced to use them in order to stay in business). My cousin is also a drywaller and he faces competition from these illegals all the time.

Amusingly, I was listening to a talk radio program apparently beamed out of New Hampshire and the hosts were devoted
"Austrians" who believed we should curtail any illegal immigration. We should just have open borders and no restrictions. All in the name of "free" labor markets.

You said: HOW MUCH CAN WE CHARGE AND BEAT THE UNION GUYS --- then who can we get to do the labor the cheapest.

Its pathetic.

No, that's free enterprise.

I think you'd probably like to make your home in Cuba or Venezuela.
