Solar powered trash can, sends a text message when full. $4000. Paid for with Federal stimulus money. Here's a video of it in operation:

But only idiots were on the wrong side of those CDS bets. They can blame themselves more than they can blame Goldman.

So we should preserve the CDS system as it currently stands, unregulated and opaque?

Keep the "dark pools" obscured from the light of financial transparency?

GS was presenting itself as an experienced professional advisor. Their behavior was like that of a doctor who performed an expensive surgery for early signs of ricketts instead of telling you to take some vitamin C. Your not supposed to have to practice "buyer beware" when asking what treatment your doctor suggests.

GS (and Morgan Stanley, and Citi) were pushing dangerous, unnecessary financial "surgeries" on clients and some of those clients experienced financial death.

mish I think on this one you are way way out of whack

Remember those recommending DOT.COM's or Amazon? Well selling puts or buying calls because the stock will go higher at the time was not a bad idea, neither puts on SUNW at 30 or 50 - it went up to 130, INTC catapulted to 70.

All corporate treasurers at the time that the companies where announcing "share buyback" where writing tons of puts and by this increasing the profitability of the corporation - until the music stopped but in the meantime gained hundreds of millions each company - where they all IDIOTS? NO

GE stopped making the requested contribution from corporate earnings to their pension funds only by covering the the gap by selling puts on the stock, where they IDIOTS?

IN case of subprime mortgages and synthetic MBS those like GS on purpose got their AAA rating and then sold to unsuspecting institutions - this is thievery and swindle the fact that they are big institution does not mean that they are not a criminal organization
I do think you must check your integrity compass and making money by swindling others IS CRIMINAL in my book – or do you justify knowingly selling you food gone bad and poisonous in a nice package and then denying that you did it?
