With hindsight it's easy to say they were taken in by relying too heavily on the AAA ratings/ Yep. Of course the IBs were paying the RAs to rate those CDOs. And the Monolines didn't have much choice but to accept the "objectivity" of the RAs. And no one really had the reason to question the morality or consequences of it all, so long as they were banking cash. After all, just like the those corporate officials who covered up the Asbestos dangers, they figured they would be long gone living in the Caymans before it became an issue. Hawk
