I was driving south out of Flagstaff and hit Sedona at sunset - it was stunning. I visited all the missions south of San Antonio, the Mission Trail they call it, but never made it to the Alamo. Walked by it a couple of times, the line was always too long.

Sedona and the Alamo:

They certainly are in different directions. It is along and, might I say quite, boring ride from Surprise to the Alamo. Should you venture to Sedona plan your trip around weather--July and August are quite hot up here.

Route 89A from Prescott via Jerome and Sedona to Flagstaff is one of the most scenic in the country. The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is about 2 1/2 hours from Sedona.

Sedona welcomes visitors--pose any inquiry and I'll give you a straight answer.
