I tried to make sure I had no regrets before they both passed. I asked questions and made amends for perceived past offenses. It's never enough, and I can't count the times I wish I'd asked about this or that, or spent more time with them both. I think I spent more time with my Mother during her last year than I'd spent in the past 20. And even though she was hard to live with most of the time because of the pain and suffering, I'm glad I did that. Dad was a wanderer, and gone for more time than he was ever around. He was a sea captain, and we had plans to sail the South Pacific when he retired. Unfortunately, cancer took him before we could realize our dream.
