And now Rs don't want bank reform. In the end, you all may not even be a regional party.

Senators blocks effort to end debate on bank bill

By Ronald D. Orol

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - Senators on Wednesday narrowly rejected a key procedural motion that would have set the stage for enactment of a sweeping bank reform bill by the end of the week. Specifically, the Senate voted 57 to 42 to effectively allow the chamber to continue to debate a bank reform bill that has been under consideration by senators for over a month. The senate required the support of 60 members to end debate, however lawmakers continued to squabble over which measures could come up for a vote. The failure puts into question when a vote on final passage of the massive bank reform bill might take place. Democratic leadership may seek another vote to end debate on the bill or senators may consider further amendments to the bill that were blocked from being considered in recent days. These include a measure that would ban naked credit default swaps and one that seeks to limit the speculative activity of big banks.

I'm thinking a Republican caught in Blumenthal's lies would have withdrawn by now.
