Jeff, I'm not into losses [contrary to what PCSTel says].
.....snip.............
I say make it profitable from day 1. That does not mean they need to include capital already committed, gone, and done. No matter what happens, the cost of the constellation and what-not will be gone as soon as the launch program is finished.

They should cover marginal costs involved in new customers so that each time somebody connects, there's a gain, not a loss.

So they shouldn't give away loss leader megabytes which they have to buy from some termination company. They should charge what it costs in money out the door, plus a little bit.

Is this the same guy who wrote this??????

Paying for the gateways was understandable, though unnecessary. I was happy to buy a gateway for NZ and buy thousands of handsets too. But the gateways, aka Exit 1, should have been owned and built by Globalstar.

There was a condition to me buying a gateway which was that I get free minutes/megabytes until the satellites were full. Globalstar was NOT interested in that idea.

I would have sold the handsets for $3000 or at auction in cyberspace for what the market would bear, and given free minutes/megabytes to subscribers.

Free minutes and Free Gateways! Sounds like a great deal.. For the proprietors of "Exit #1" that is... You build me a Gateway, and give me free megabytes.. And I will buy the Handsets at Dealer Cost, and then sell them at an obscene profit because as an incentive... I will give away YOUR MEGABYTES that you provide to me Free of Charge...

But, now ( 1 year later) Maurice opines....

So they shouldn't give away loss leader megabytes which they have to buy from some termination company. They should charge what it costs in money out the door, plus a little bit.

¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ I think that has been MY OPINION all along Maurice. You remember... All the "teat suckers" you wanted to give FREE MOU's until the system filled up. Which you then expected the "teat suckers" to start paying up when you started raising prices.

Now when Maurice finally realizes the flaws in his opinions.. He now flip-flops and begins to sound like me... However, He claims that I have "mis-represented" his previous statements?????

A Tale of two companies......

Old Globalstar....

Point Google Earth to the following coordinates to view the Puerto Rico Gateway that was built under the old company where nonthing but the best was the moto.. Because, it was, after all.... Somebody else's money...

17º 58'39.47N 67º 08'19.53W

And the new Globalstar where money is spent like it is your own money... Because it is.... and the Sebring, Floida Gateway..

27º 27'34.39N 81º 21'24.96W

4 dishes in a open field with what appears to be a little bit of gravel thrown around.
