I still oppose Kagan because of her stance on the Second Amendment.

I can understand why the writer felt the need to provide a different spin on Kagan's attitude towards the military.

But, to me, the article reinforced the similarities between Obama and Kagan.

Each wants to project a certain image when rubbing elbows with certain groups.

Out of earshot of those groups, they espouse different viewpoints.

They both want to leave as little concrete evidence as possible concerning their real beliefs. They both crave wriggle-room and plausible deniability.

Personally, long term politicians-in-waiting do not strike me as worthy of credence. The only thing worse are whores like Arlen Specter. But, then again, maybe not. Specter is ham-handed while the liars of the Obama/Kagan school are more deft dissemblers.
