Five Virginia teens are facing felony pornography charges for "sexting."

In tort, there is a defense to negligence per se (negligence presumed from violation of statute) that the violator is part of the class of persons the law was intending to protect. There really should be something along those lines for criminal law in cases like this. Sexting is really worse than the felony charges? It's absurd.
