"I voted for him on account of his being a black guy,"

President Big Oil?

Once you go BP, you never go back?

He's proved one thing, affirmative action works. No matter what race gets in, all are subject to the influence of the first lobbyist that unzips his fly.

I'm really beginning to think this is the root of Obama's problems. He's a black dude who did well by following the white "rules", which really are pretty simple: study hard, get good grades, get an advanced degree, and stay our of trouble. Despite right wing attempts at casting him as a radical, he is anything but a radical. He will always attempt to solve problems by the consensus view of the best available book. Its not a bad approach for leading a solid upper/middleclass life in America, especially if you are black.

Unfortunately, it should not be confused with leadership skills when faced with the unexpected. Obama can't study up on the "correct" way to solve the BP problem, because it ain't in any book. Neither can he do much to solve the economic problems, because the USA & the world for that matter are rather far out on the tail of what prior economic policy has had to deal with. Obama doesn't know how to reach beyond the known, and forge an effective solution when faced with such issues. Instead, he will play it safe by relying on whatever "tried and true" methods exist. Consequently, it will be exceedingly tough for Obama to bring real reform to the financial system or the budget deficit issues.

I voted for him on account of his being a black guy, figured it would help black people straighten up and fly right
