Similar conditions have been made to frame the argument for and against California's "three strikes" law.

Statistics have shown time and time again that California's "three strikes" law was a key factor for a long-term reduction in crime across the state. Opponents of the law generally try and prove a negative, that the law had no effect.

These arguments came up a few years ago when a proposition weakening the three strikes law was up for a vote. The proposition was narrowly defeated.
