When listed five different (more, if you count that several ideas were in some of the five listed points) reasons for why America's growth was so strong (and Middle Class wealth gains so strong...) during the 'fifties and 'sixties' --- compared to more recent decades --- I was just roughly listing ideas off of the top of my head.

Still, I believe that the reasons with the STRONGEST POSITIVE EFFECTS were at the top of the list, and less strong reasons as we went down the list further.

(Still think that the strongest reasons from my listing played a more important role in the prospering of the American Middle Class then your two though... not to say that 'minimal regulation' cannot be a positive as well though. <g>)

Nice inflation-adjusted chart for gasoline prices!

It helps to be reminded that the aftermath of Gulf War I (and the Soviet Empire's collapse and financial difficulties) for America was a complete collapse in OPEC's pricing power.

Yet another (as with the destruction of most non-North American manufacturing capacity in WW II) unlikely to be repeated temporary boon!

Re: "Effective tax rates on much of the middle class where lower"

I still have my doubts about that being the case though....
