Another strong driver for the US to move to a greener economy more quickly.
==========================
President Obama will be visiting a solar panel manufacturing facility in Fremont on Wednesday as part of his short trip to the Bay Area.

Obama will tour Solyndra, Inc., which constructed a commercial-style manufacturing plant for solar photovoltaic panels with the help of a $535 million loan guarantee from the U.S. Department of Energy that was a part of the stimulus package passed by Congress last year.

Solyndra officials estimate the construction of the plant, which began in September, will create about 3,000 jobs, including as many as 1,000 permanent jobs when the plant opens.

The plant, Fab 2, is the second on the facility. Over the course of the two plants' lifetimes, they are estimated to cut more than 350 million metric tons of carbon dioxide, or 850 million barrels of oil, according to company officials.

The president is scheduled to visit the Solyndra facility Wednesday morning and then fly out from San Francisco International Airport later that day.
