The earned income tax credits were supposed to be IN PLACE OF the other welfare payments. Instead it's just one more piece in a huge candy bag.

I'm not proposing this as an alternative, but in the beginning only land owners voted. The purpose in that was that the founders wanted all voters to have a vested interest in the country. We've lost that and gone to handouts. I don't know how to fix it.
