Since Mish is no longer using this thread I thought I'd talk to myself a little bit more. This just occurred to me today, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. In my lifetime when the US went to war it was "kill 'em all and let god sort 'em out", while "Better 10 Guilty Men Go Free than to Convict a Single Innocent Man" was considered a cornerstone of our justice system. The same opposing approaches are still used, only where we assign them has changed. I don't know whether this applies then or now or pretty much continuously, but somehow there appears to be a fair amount of it going on. fuzzybuzz.files.wordpress.com ARS
