If "the Santa Barbara spill, prove to be the kind of disaster that jolts the nation into action" was a correct premise, we would be totally off of oil by now.

We aren't even close.

For reasons that are hard to explain, the Administration still can’t, or won’t, say exactly how much oil is leaking.

Now this is the problem I have with the statement which causes me to rule this author's article as a complete piece of junk. something written by an idiot for idiots. It is common knowledge that to be in a position to say how much oil is leaking, we need to have data on flow, pressure etc. This is collected when we have measuring instruments. Right now there are none there. So your guess on how much is leaking is as good as my guess based on the videos that we all have seen.

This Govt. has better things to do to handle the crisis instead of "guessing" the flow when it has released real time shots of the leak.

I can understand why you are unable to discuss the technical aspects of the spill. But there have been many links posted on this thread by Wharfy and you folks could at least go and educate yourselves from those sites. Wharfy also runs a thread where there are more intense discussions of this issue and that could also serve as interesting pieces of learning of the technical issues. Surely those are better places to learn from than Rachel Maddow. I can bet that you don't go to your doctor for a haircut even if your doctor claims to cut his own hair at home.

But surely political rhetoric is not welcome at this timeis not welcome. What is even worse is for me to discover that I are reasoning with some folks to request them to cease and desist from political rhetoric on this issue and they consider this as censorship. Is that why the British call such folks "blokes"?
