Fire all the union bus drivers and hire a new set of drivers at 60% of the current workers pay.

Impossible. Our Honolulu Bus drivers are all teamsters.

Gotta admit I don't know enough about how unions work to know why this is impossible. If union bus drivers earn too much, fire the union, entirely, and hire new bus drivers at 60% of the fired worker's wage.

The training and transition process would be ugly, but why is in impossible? Who's going to defend the right of a bunch of bus drivers to make $100k when lots of unemployed folks will do the same job for $60k?
