Well, other than YOUR dialtone shortage in Seattle (and how can they get AWAY with that?), that's probably exactly what they do.

Don't know if DSLAMs necessarily need standardization for a CDSL unit to be adaptable to whatever DSLAM flavors are out there, but other than what I have reported (from what ROK told me directly last week), I don't know specifics.

The more I think about it, the more I doubt your supposition could be the case.

In SCal, GTE is PUSHING second lines. I just got my 7th without any telco hesitation. And with more people moving into the area, they WOULDN'T turn business away. They'd just add another PSTN switch - ESPECIALLY if it generated GREATER revenue.
