They are not getting 6k bbls out of the 6" pipe. It's been dropping. Maybe half of that now.

There is no 20" pipe, that is the casing, the pipe is much smaller. Think of an old dug well, it may be 5 feet across but you must put a pipe down it to draw water. The well is way below the sea and under a lot of pressure, there is no pump pushing the oil out, it will only flow what the pressure difference between the sea and the oil in the well. The relief wells stop the flow by reducing this pressure.
