<<<The name "ozone" is derived from the Greek word "ozein" which means "to smell". Ozone is a
bluish, water-soluble gas with a distinctive smell, that has been used to purify water since 1893.
Ozone is used chiefly for disinfecting, detoxification, and deodorization in water purification and
air conditioning, along with many other application>>>

Jeffrey--this was a highly informative post as have been several
other recent ones.

I have a question which will show my age. When I used to do the
laundry in the 1940's and 50's, there was no Chlorine around that I
know of.

What we used for a whitener/sanitizer was a product called either "Mrs"
or "Martha" Stewarts Bluing. Blue as it could be--mixed it in
rinse water. Could ozone have been a primary ingredient already then?
Thanks for the informative posts..
