tejek, you have become a true believer. No matter what the evidence about anything Obama may have done wrong you are see no evil, speak no evil and hear no evil.

Nope. Not true. You tell me what Obama could have done differently in this mess and I will listen. So far, no one has come up with a reasonable argument.

I am a hard core yellow dog democrat who will vote for Oama no matter what in th enext election, but---

There are lots of things Obama should have done and can still do. Many of them symbbolic, but very important. He should have insisted the best minds in the country estimate the amount of the flow of oil rather than stick to BP's BS estimates. And then told the people "we disagree with BP", not walk in lock step with BP.

The best minds were coming up with different flow figures. So what? How does that change one damn thing? Knowing the flow rate is important but it doesn't change the fact that we have a disaster on our hands and everything needs to be done to stop it.

Just government's best estimates. That would have gone a long way to give the administration credibility.

Bull. People want to blame someone.....anyone. And this one is a no brainer.......every one hates our pimp and dealer, the oil industry. And if Obama looks like he was 'hoing with the pimp, then he gets blamed too.

We all know they are wrong, so when the administration ties itself to BP's lies they get guilt by association. And that goes for everything BP has been lying about, like the CEO saying the impact would be minimal.

The administration is doing exactly what it needs to be doing.......keeping the ball in BP's court. You don't keep screaming at the guy whose got his finger in the dike and stressing him out because you think he didn't build the dike strong enough. When the dike is finally plugged, there will be plenty of time to scream and point blame.

The administration should have leveled with the people straight out and told us it would be the travesty it is. They had to know, I knew!

Obama has been practicing his walking on water with flip flops but still doesn't have it perfected....nor is he a good clairvoyant yet.

If you go back several weeks you will see I told mindmeld this would be a travesty much worse than the Valdez oil spill (which was a spill).

It was always so clear, but the people want to hear it from the president.

Damn! Why did anyone think to make you president? ;-)

And obama should have gone down there immediately and stayed there for a while to see how things were going for himself and brought a good group of administrators with him.

Obama is the POTUS......of all the US. I don't want him spending all his time in the GOM purely for the PR. What nonsense. He's got bigger fish to fry.

I cannot believe we are this far into this oil blow out and Obama has not virtually lived down on the coast!

Now if he did that, I would consider him to be pandering to the public, and I would be very upset. Then you would hear me complain about Obama.

"I cannot believe we are this far into this oil blow out and Obama has not virtually lived down on the coast!"

Why? So you can bitch he's not in DC for Kagan, financial reform, climate bill, boycotting Iran, and the second Korean War?

Flow Rate
The National Incident Command's Flow Rate Technical Group (FRTG) is designed to support the response and inform the public by providing scientifically validated information about the amount of oil flowing from BP's leaking oil well while ensuring the vital efforts to cap the leak are not impeded.

The administration-wide response efforts have always been geared toward the possibility of a catastrophic event, and our deployment of resources and our tactics have bee n based on such a worst case scenario not an inexact number.

That said, the FRTG reflects the federal government's clear understanding of the long-term value of determining an oil flow rate, both in regards to the continued response and long-term recovery, as well as the important role this information may play in the final investigation of the failure of the blowout preventer and the resulting spill.
