I heard that the reason the thing blew out in the first place was BP would not allow the use of mud in the drilling, something which I am sure they would vigorously deny. Cut backs in Alaska seem to point to cost cutting measures that set up possible "situations" ...

If true, not altogether good.

So how soon before it's back in production?

I guess if there was so much pressure it blew out, that means there is lots of flow.

It's good to hear we aren't running out of oil in the GOM.

All they have to do is add about 7 million gallons of detergent to the ecosystem and it will soak up all the oil. That and 22 million cellulose kitchen sponges. Lot easier to harvest a kitchen sponge from the shoreline than a gooey bunch of seaweed.

That there bay the Exxon Valdez kinda fouled up is ok now. So 20 years from now nobody is going to notice.

Perhaps this will Accelerate wetland reclamation which they should have been doing more of anyway. Half the reason New Orleans almost disappeared was the Nutria and levee building have devastated the coastline wetlands and salt water swamps. Without this natural protection the hurricanes can bring full force to storm surge tidal bores that sweep inland.
