The only thing worse than a oil gusher a mile under the ocean is a gusher spewing radioactive oil a mile under the ocean.

Been discussed to death at the Drum, every time a newbie shows up with that.
No, not conventional explosives, either.

Peace.

This was an excellent Press conference because:

It was meeting with the press outside of the evening time slot. The onus is now on the press to report it correctly to the nation without much commentary and twists. What he said is there for us all to see.

He took responsibility and told the public directly all the efforts that his Administration has taken from day one. he did admit that judgments may have been wrong and that mistakes were made (Recall the famous Bush moment where he could not admit or recall a mistake he had made.) he also informed us that changes in operating procedures have been made and cited the 30 day limit to approve a new oil drilling permit as one area being looked into. The FDA takes upto 18 months to approve a drug And a "fast track" approval is 9 months. I think the MMS should adopt that time line for new permit approvals.

The fact that every move by BP is under the direct charge of the Coast Guard commandant establishes beyond doubt that the Feds are fully in charge.

He clearly outlined his disagreement with "Drill baby drill."

some of the many good points he made. And all the American public needed was to hear directly from their Prez. after all, it is all in the perception most of the time.
