"I remember watching a film in elementary school about how much more oil was left in the world. The film claimed 50 years. Said film also talked about nothing but the problems with oil, including its environmental impact."

That hasn't changed.....peak oil production was reached in 1972 and it is still dropping....Otherwise why in hell are we drilling in the Artic and 22,000 feet deep below the sea floor off the coast lines....cause it's easy pickin's????..Shale oil is not in the cards yet...

"How about we use the oil we have today so that we can get to the altnernative energy sources of tomorrow? Sound like an idea?"

No, a very bad idea...aren't you a conservative with the "cut spending" religion..why don't you use that philosophy for our natural resources...??

Ted, > This country has had at least 30 years of misinfo fed to the American public about our dependency on oil.

No Ted, you have it backwards. For the past several decades, Americans have been told just how evil oil is. Over and over again.

Oh Ten, I think the sky is blue......what color do you think it is?

Grow up and do some original thinking.

Besides, I wasn't talking about the oil industry.

I remember watching a film in elementary school about how much more oil was left in the world. The film claimed 50 years. Said film also talked about nothing but the problems with oil, including its environmental impact.

This was back when cars got like 10-15 MPG on the highway. On leaded gasoline. These days, cars get double the gas mileage and pollute less than before, yet we're still beating ourselves up over self-guilt.

How about we use the oil we have today so that we can get to the altnernative energy sources of tomorrow? Sound like an idea?

No, I think it stinks.

You see.....two can play the same stupid game.
