In a previous incarnation, maybe I was.

Although steel was and still obviously is a basic building material, I don't think of the transformation that was produced by it's adoption and widespread use in the same way that I think of microprocessor's.

Steel has unique physical properties with regard to strength, durability and formability that led to it's adoption. Microprocessors are a whole different thing. They have increased the value of information by increasing it's usability. What does that mean? It changes EVERYTHING.
