Actually, I was more than half way up the NCO ranks on two different occasions. But it was a slippery slope. <G> I was scheduled to go to OCS when I signed up. Then I found out that no matter what your specialty, second louies got sent to command a platoon in Nam. And that Russian language credit sure looked good for Germany or Alaska. <G> I could have gone to Turkey, too, but I never felt that happening.
