That is true.

Because regulation is an unconscionable drag on business. Businesses can regulate themselves because it isn't in their interest to take uncompensated risks.

The fly in the ointment is that without regulation, they can structure things so they can get short term benefits without risk. In fact, as we have seen, they can even structure things so they can profit whens things go wrong. Now long term, the economy may collapse, but that is many bonus cycles into the future...
