"Parish official to Obama: Stop moratorium on drilling"

No big surprise. Louisiana has 3 main components to its economy, oil, commercial fishing and agriculture, with oil probably being the biggest. Texas was similar before the Boom, the proportions were different but..., however Texas used the money from the Boom to diversify their economy. Louisiana threw a party. Slowing down oil is going to hurt a lot of people.

How does LA transition to a new economy now......there is no boom left to tide them over. There is going to be more pain. And I am not sure it has the leadership......not impressed with Jindal, Nagin or Landrieu. Maybe with all the changes NOLA has been through new blood has been brought into the area and will provide true leadership.
