I'm not quite sure; can't remember everything I've seen in the last month, but I think they have to stabilize it with the mud and then use the concrete. Might have to do with pressures. The mud is heavy enuf to overcome the outward pressure of the flow, and concrete isn't. I know they have different weight muds they use.

Get some interesting ideas on what to use for even greater pressures..gold, mercury, and I think somebody said molten lead.
