The impression coming out of Washington is that they're treating this as an annoyance.

Although relief efforts are by their very nature reactive, the oil spill has been going on for over a month now. That's plenty of time for Obama to show some proactiveness in dealing with the eventual cleanup.

Colin Powell was on one of the Sunday morning shows saying that Obama's problem is one of image, not substance. Specifically, Powell said that Obama failed to give a timely speech soon enough assuring the public that he was on top of the situation.

Well geez, I thought giving speeches was Obama's specialty. What does that tell you, if Obama failed to do something that simple?
