There's also some speculation that as Japan suffers they will have to withdraw some of their investment in US Govt debt. I don't
quite understand why that might be, but if they start pulling back, it will be hard on US debt and ultimately equity market.


Cutting aside all the fancy stuff, I think it's just that they'll need the money for other things. For example, their banks lost a lot of money in the NIKKEI decline, and have to stay solvent.
