The Israeli military today released footage of weapons it says were found during deadly commando raids on a flotilla of ships bound for Gaza.

Improvised explosives, knives, machetes, catapults and gas masks were among the cache allegedly retrieved from the six-strong fleet which was stormed on Monday.

The images were released by the Israel Defence Forces, who claim the weapons were used against navy personnel when they boarded the ship.

British families today faced an agonising wait for news after it emerged 40 UK activists had been detained during Israel's bloody commando raid.

As the UN Security Council condemned the attack and called for an 'impartial' investigation, the Foreign Office confirmed that at least one Brit had been injured during the assault.

Consulate officials are 'urgently' trying to establish the exact number of Britons being held and are seeking immediate access to them.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said: 'We believe there are roughly 40 British nationals involved in the flotilla though, given the confusing situation, we are urgently trying to establish the actual figure as well as making sure we have consular access to them all.'

David Cameron described Israel's actions as 'unacceptable' adding he 'deplored the heavy loss of life' off the coast of Gaza.

he following excerpts are from an Al-Jazeera TV report on the ?Freedom Flotilla? before its departure toward Gaza. The report aired on May 28, 2010.

Reporter: Despite the Israeli threats and some unexpected obstacles, the arrival of the ships at the rendezvous, in preparation to set sail to Gaza, has kindled the emotions and enthusiasm of the participants.

Crowd chanting: ?Khaybar, Khaybar, oh Jews, the army of Muhammad will return.?

Reporter: Through songs about the Palestinian Intifada, the participants expressed their longing to reach Gaza.

Participant 1: The brothers here are shouting and are full of enthusiasm. They are waiting to leave soon, with the ships around us in the sea. Allah willing, we will make our way to Gaza.

Participant 2: We are now waiting for one of two good things ? either to achieve martyrdom, or to reach Gaza.

And here is a Link to the Video in question!

Republicans Jump Out To Historic Lead In Gallup Generic Ballot

Posted by Sean Trende

June 1st, 2010

Gallup's generic polling shows the number of voters saying that they would vote for Republicans rising three points from last week, while the number saying they will vote for Democrats dropped four points. The 49%-43% lead for the Republicans is the largest that the pollster has ever recorded for the party. Moreover, Democratic enthusiasm for voting this fall fell a point, while enthusiasm among Republicans stayed about fifteen points higher. This indicates an even wider lead for Republicans once Gallup imposes a likely voter screen this fall.

There's any number of reasons for this: the public's perception of Obama's response to the oil spill, the shaky stock market performance last week, continued concern about the economy and spending. The bottom line is that, despite what is perceived as an underperformance for the Republicans in PA-12 a couple of weeks ago, there are still plenty of Democrats in trouble for this November.
