Justin, i totally agree with your assesment of NT and i dread the thought of it comming into my life, but how do you feel about SGI being the player that corrects some of the shortcommings of NT like MP and I/O and a few other things that IRIX does best? do you see an era when SGI/NT boxes pay for the development and building of premium products? will the justification for high end R&D be that whatever is developed can be amortised down at the loathsome mass market? ahhh, the irony, to be subsidised by the unwashed.

As long as you're comfortable with that. I didn't realize that SGI viewed their customers that way. Usually the employees of successful companies believe that the product they are delivering is the best out there, not just an inferior product that the customer thinks he wants. I haven't ever really heard the sales pitch that "well, it's poor technology, it's unstable, and the performance sucks, but you want it, we'll sell it to you."

At least the check wouldn't bounce.
