Murphy's Law:

BP's bid to stem spill stalls with stuck saw
Meantime, oil drifts to within 7 miles of Pensacola beaches

PORT FOURCHON, La. - As the crude crept closer to Florida, the risky effort to contain the nation's worst oil spill hit a snag Wednesday when a diamond-edged saw became stuck in a thick pipe on a blown-out well at the bottom of the Gulf.

Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen said the goal was to free the saw and finish the cut later in the day. This is the latest attempt to contain — not plug — the gusher. The best chance at stopping the leak is a relief well, which is at least two months from completion.

I was glad to see the 'cowboy' didn't make it.

me, too. me, too.

on the repub side for the guvship there will be a run-off, but pending a week to verify the results, Tim "we speak English" James will not be in it. Byrne, who is going to be in it, in his speech last night said "we are competing in an international market with our neighboring states, and I'm here to tell you that Alabama is open to and open for business to people of all languages". sweet dig and sweet perspective.

and in the State school board race that covers my area there was one guy who said all children have a right to a good education and one guy who said "we got a lot of Mexicans. if a child shows up at school and doesn't speak English, there is something wrong with them. they are probably illegals.", and he wanted to use e-verify on their parents. the latter dude went down hard.

all in all... I am pleased. lot of work to do, but at least some chafe has been cleared.
