Yougang,

AMD's K6 output in Q4:

1.6M (keeping two significant digits) at best (closer to 2.0M than to 1.0M).

Migration from 0.35um to 0.25um:

This is just an excuse. The 0.25um technology won't be fully implemented until the second half of '98 at best. The supposed fixed wafers are just rolling out of the production line, and to Jerry's very unpleasant surprise, the problem still exists (perhaps, diminishes). He cannot run a company based on hope and hypes and to be profitable at the same time. Sooner or later, it is going to catch with you!

Good luck to all especially these very die-hard AMD investors.

John.

Yougang - Re: "Does this mean that AMD will produce in Q4 K6 close to 2 million OR just more than 1 million in Q3?"

Yes, that's what it means.

You must learn to understand Sanders-Speak.

Yougang,

Re: "Will the
migration from 0.35 to 0.25 decrease K6 output?"

In the short term, it is quite clear that changing the "focus" to .25um
will decrease the supply of "shippable" K6's.

The transition to AMD's .25um process will take about 6 months and at
that time, I would expect to see an increase in output due to the smaller
die size at .25um. However if the yields are like the .35um process, then
AMD might have a hard time producing the 300mhz K6's.

Make It So,
